Jedno ma jednak wspólne z Ralfem - nie umie rozwin±æ, poprowadziæ
rozwoju samochodu. Wydaje mi siê, ¿e obydwaj biernie bior± to co dostan±

Subject: Delayed Qualifying Statistics #6 - Montréal
Note: Having been away on holiday I was not able to post the usual stats from
the Canadian GP. I have been back a few days, but have not yet been able to
catch up. I'm working on it, but I'm still busy doing other things, so it may
take a couple more days.

Subject: Hamilton i wyprzedzanie
Hej
Mam pytanie: czy Hamilton w tych kilku wyscigach w których uczestniczy³
choc raz wyprzedza³ jakiegos innego zawodnika, bo cos mi sie wydaje ze nie
zdarzy³o mu sie... :)

seria w ktorej kierowcy chca miec 100 % bezpieczenstwa ( i 0 % ryzyka ),
walczyc o pozycje w boksach i zarabiac po kilkadzesiat mln USD rocznie :-)
Cos w tym jest

Subject: Top Speed Comparison - Indianapolis
These comparisons only use the top speeds recorded through the regular speed
trap during the Saturday Qualifying sessions. This means that, at most events,
there are comparisons that are fairly meaningless because of some problem that
affected one or more drivers during one particular session.
The first table compares the 2006 team/driver combination with the equivalent
2007 team/driver - the same driver if possible, otherwise the 2006 driver is
compared to his 2007 replacement. This is intended as a team comparison, but
the first table is also of interest - but should be read with caution.

While Kubica had actually made it as far as Indianapolis, before the FIA
decided he should not race following his Montreal accident, his race
engineer did not even make it across the border from Canada.
http://www.autosport.com/news/grapevine.php/id/59980
Kubica's race engineer Mehdi Ahmady is half Iranian, and America's political
issues with the Middle Eastern country meant he was not granted a visa to
get into the country. US immigration had little sympathy with what Ahmady
had been through in Canada, or that he was clearly only coming to
Indianapolis to do his job.

Subject: Delayed Overtaking Statistics #6 - Montréal
Introduction for New Readers
============================
2007 is the tenth season that I have posted these amateur overtaking
analyses. My intention was to allow easier comparisons between Grands
Prix, seasons, circuits, drivers, etc.
In order to make any meaningful and/or useful observations it is essential
to produce the stats in as consistent a way as possible. To do this I have
devised several "rules" that I try to follow for each event. Please note
before posting to complain that I missed an obvious passing manoeuvre that
it has probably been excluded because of one of my "rules". The rules are
outlined in the "Disclaimer" below - please read it.
This analysis was mainly derived from the official FIA lap chart, which is
usually available from www.fia.com, http://forix.autosport.com or
www.autosport.com/f1/ on race day or the following day. The original charts
remain copyright of the FIA.
Other excellent Formula One websites are available. This analysis is
completely and totally unofficial.
Disclaimer
==========
For the purposes of this analysis, I only count what I will term "genuine"
passing manoeuvres, which means that I always exclude:
a) any place changes made during pit stops
b) all lapping or unlapping manoeuvres
c) any place changes made during the first lap
Hopefully, a) & b) are obvious. c) is because although lap one is often the
best opportunity to make up places, it is also not typical of the rest of
the race, and so, for the purpose of comparing races with other races and
seasons with other seasons, it is simpler to exclude lap one completely. I
do summarise the changes on lap one later in the post.
For the purposes of this analysis a "pit stop" encompasses the slowing down
lap and the out lap, since any passes during those laps MIGHT be due to the
driver slowing down or speeding up.
Passes are not counted in these stats UNLESS the gained position is held
until the start/finish line is next crossed and so gets recorded onto the
lap chart. I try to ignore anything that isn't recorded in the lap chart,
even if it was seen on TV.
These are the passes I read for the 2007 Canadian GP:

(grid position after any penalties have been applied). Obviously, a driver
who frequently starts from pole position has very little chance to gain
places while one who usually starts at the back of the grid has a good
chance of gaining places.

Michael Schumacher's lead continues to shrink despite a relatively poor
showing from Alonso. No real movement in the top ten, but lower down
Lewis Hamilton continues his meteoric rise. His second pole position
and race win push him up to fourteenth, displacing Takuma Sato. Below
the top twenty the newer drivers mainly consolidate their positions
although Heikki Kovalainen's good race pushes him above Alexander Wurz.

Alonso "loses" a high-scoring race allowing Felipe Massa to take over
the number one spot. Hamilton consolidates his #5 position. Surprisingly
Button moves ahead of Heidfeld into seventh. Both Kovalainen and Wurz
look likely to break into the twenty in the near future.

Tak, jak ju¿ napisali. Do rzyci z punktacj±, która premiuje
wytrwa³o¶æ. Mo¿e by by³a fajna, gdyby pierwsze miejsca mia³y
wiêksze odstêpy (np. 48 32 24 20 18...) i dodatkowo dodawano by
po oczku za:
- ka¿dy udany manewr wyprzedzania (a wyprzedzanemu zabraæ jedno?
;))
- za najszybszy czas okr±¿enia (ka¿dy najszybszy?)
- za PP (za PP mo¿na by nawet wiêksz± premiê daæ)
No to teraz dopiero by³by bajzel =P
r.

Notes: Mark Webber was sidelined by a transmission problem after 50m of the
session. Nick Heidfeld had to abandon the session suffering from back pain.
He receieved treatment but took no further part in practice. He is expected
to be able to drive tomorrow. Chrstijan Albers also missed most of the
session after damaging the car. Davidson and Liuzzi had a fairly minor
"coming together" in the pit lane.
Ferrari stayed at the top of the timesheets, but the big surprise was Scott
Speed in third place, with team-mate Tonio Liuzzi fifth quickest in the
sister car. The American later played down the significance, admitting that
he was on low fuel and softer tyres when he set his quickest time.

Notes: Session was red-flagged from 11:25 to 11:32 to repair some loose artifical
turf on the edge of the final chicane. Fernando Alonso spent almost the whole 90m
in the garage with some sort of mechanical problem. He only emerged in the last two
minutes to set the eighth fastest lap in his only quick lap of the session. The
two Renaults were close to the top with quick laps in the last few mins. Heidfeld
was passed fit to drive, but his pace suggests that he may not be entirely
comfortable.
